Picking onions for our dinner salad

I went out to the garden a bit again to pull a few green onions for our dinner salad and I thought I'd share a few pictures with you.

Some pea plants in bloom! My first attempt at growing garlic here. I planted the bulbs the first of November. The return of the dratted sunflowers that made my life so crazy last year. I am planning to rip them out more aggressively this year because they really impacted the amount of tomatoes we harvested last year. Salad onions - yum! Eggplants still producing. And last, a still producing tomato plant I got from Tasteful Garden. I would be happy to tell you what kind it was but our granddaughter, Morgan "helped" me and picked out all the tags. Silly child. And notice my second "pretty" compost bin to the left of the photo. Hope you're staying warm and cozy wherever you are!

Happy garden dreams!
Jenny

  1. I have enjoyed reading your blog! So, Hello from a fellow gardner and cook! It is only 23 degrees here in SW Virginia today and gardening weather is still a long way ahead. But I have been consoling myself with garden magazine and seed catalogs.

    Blessings

  9. Hi Jenny,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I don't really have African violets mastered. I neglect and kill them eventually, then buy some more, thinking I'm going to do better this time.

I enjoyed seeing what you have growing. I am looking forward to spring getting here. Our 2 year old grandson likes to help, too, and I'm sure he will be gardening even more this year. He helped pick grape tomatoes last year, and helped dig up sweet potatoes. I don't think it would be his fault if a tag went missing, though. There's a good chance it would be me who lost it.

  13. Just like everyone, very refreshing seeing garden photos in January!!!!! Almost as if I'm visiting an Austrailian blog.

I saw a comment you made on another blog regarding Amish, and I think I live by where you are from in Ohio.
